The club includes weekly games, guest speakers, and field trips. During the semester, the club will conduct at least one business venture, making money to be used to launch each participant’s individual investment account. One club actually has a candy vending machine that is producing passive income, as you read this!
For young people to make the most of their experience in the Club, it is helpful for parents to engage in conversations with their children about what they are learning in the club. The kids will be exploring a new language and approach to money. They will be “using” their money in new and structured ways. They will possibly be asking for support in setting up an investment account.
*Grow Your Money is a financial literacy curriculum
that has been approved by the Texas Education Agency to
fulfill the newly passed financial literacy law, HB 492.
